Kampong Chhnang (Feb 24, 2011) – An annual workshop on strengthening of partnership with concerned development partners and government line agencies was held on 24-25 Feb at LWD’s project office in Sameakki Meanchey district of Kampong Chhnang province.
The workshop, which was annually held by LWD, aimed to present LWD’s achievements of the year and challenges in implementing its Integrated Rural Development through Empowerment Projects (IRDEPs). It also provided an opportunity for participants, including representatives from Community-based Organization partners working with LWD, to share their experience and lessons learned from the LWD’s IRDEPs.
In his opening remarks, LWD Executive Director Dr Sam Inn, said that LWD’s achievements came from good cooperation and partnership with local authorities, government related agencies, especially the Ministry of Rural Development (MRD), NGO partners, and donors. He said that LWD received 4.2 million dollars from its traditional donors to continue its development work in 2011. “The continued support from our donors shows our local staff has enough capacity to manage the work by themselves with strong commitments following the transformation from LWF into LWD in January 2011,” he added.
On behalf of H.E. Chea Sophara, Minister of MRD, Mr Huor Kolvorn, Director of Community Development Department, applauded the achievements made by LWD over the past years. He said that MRD would continue to strengthen good cooperation with and provide stronger support for LWD in achieving its strategic goal.
Her Excellency Dork Sothea, Deputy Governor of Kampong Chhnang, also highly appreciated the valuable contributions of LWD/LWF to poverty reduction of the Royal Government since 1979.
“I admire the LWD/LWF’s effort for its integrated rural development work and I would like to ask LWD to continue their work,” she said.
