LWD distributes food, mosquitonets and water purifiers to flood affected people in Battambang

Battambang (19 October 2011) – Life With Dignity (LWD) distributed food, mosquitonets and water purifiers worth USD10,000 to 253 flood affected families in three communes of Ta Loas, Karkoh, and Prey Touch in Moung Reussei district, Battambang province.

Mr Chan Vibol, Program Manager of LWD, who leads the LWD Emergency Response Teams said the humanitarian aid for affected people in Battambang was donated by ECHO channeled through Dan Church Aid/Chistian Aid and was administered by LWD and Church World Service (CWS) in close cooperation with the Provincial Committee for Disaster Management and the local authority.

“On behalf of LWD, we will try our best to raise more fund as we can in order to release the sufferings of flood affected people in other flooded areas in Cambodia,” he said.

Each family received a kit of 25kg of rice, 1kg of ionic salt, 2 liters of cooking oil, 15 cans of canned fish, 1 set of water purifier, and 1 mosquitonet. Each kit is worth 143,680 Riels.

Mr Lam Sorm, Governor of Moung Reussei district, deeply thanked donors and partner NGOs, especially, LWD which always cooperates well with the Royal Government of Cambodia at all levels to address the needs of the most vulnerable people. “Even it is a small amount of food, but it comes at the right time and place for our people,” he said.
