Mrs Ky Nimol, Gender, Advocacy, and Networking Coordinator of LWD, highlighted in her opening speech that LWD had promoted women’s rights and roles in development through empowerment to ensure that women had equal rights to take part in decision making and played key roles in the social development as men. “But we also need motivations and supports from men,” she added.

Mr Khim Vichet, LWD Project Manager, said that some gaps between man and woman in Cambodia still remained. “Limited capacity of women is the main challenge in our community. So, women must overcome such a challenge and seize opportunities to get higher education, increase their participation in social activities, and express their ideas and concerns,” he added.

100th_ParticipantsMr Meach Sam Ol, Deputy Governor of Phnom Sruoch District, said that today’s gathering could remind all men to change their attitudes and thoughts towards women. “They should give women more chances to express their ideas; and they must stop all kinds of domestic violence against their wives,” he added.
