The delegation was led by Prof. Song Yanghoon, Director for Center for Overseas Agriculture and International Development of Chungbuk National University. It was hosted by LWD’s Executive Director Mr. Min Sor under the coordination of Cambodia’s Ministry of Rural Development.

The delegates paid a half-day visit to Chambak Sar village, Rung Roeung commune in Thpong district of Kampong Speu. They met with the Village Development Committee (VDC), Village Bank Committee, Rice Bank Committee, Disaster Risk Reduction Committee, Village Livestock Health Group, commune councilors and villagers.

The delegates sought to learn about the biggest changes in the village, most important factors that drove their success, and how the VDC engage the community in the projects. When asked what the community’s most important current need and their future dream was, a commune councilor said, “Farmers in this village solely depends on rice cultivation, canal is needed. Have water, have everything.”

After the meeting, the delegates were invited to see two of the village major achievements—community pond and spillway.

Prof. Song expressed his sincere thanks to LWD for organizing the visit and he highly appreciated the achievements made by the community under the support from LWD.
