Phnom Penh (Sept 26, 2017) – Twenty-four participants from ACT Forum Cambodia and partners received a 4-day training on SPHERE today in Phnom Penh.
The training, which started from 26 – 29 Sept, aimed to (i) enhance knowledge of ACT Forum Cambodia member and partner on global standards like SPHERE, and (ii) to encourage and ensure that ACT Forum Cambodia member and partners be able to apply global standards in emergency responses and preparedness.
The training, which was facilitated by Finn Church Aid and Life with Dignity (LWD), was part of the capacity building project of the EU Aid Volunteers initiative, being implemented by ACT Forum Cambodia.
In her opening remarks, Ms. Nop Navy, LWD Program Director, expressed her sincere thanks to EU and FCA for the initiative. She hoped that the participants would gain more knowledge and skills from the training and put them into practice at their target areas, respectively.
The course outline included: Disaster Management Law; Humanitarian Charter; Depiction Humanitarian Charter; Protection Principle; Mainstreaming Sphere Protection Principles; Sphere Minimum Standard; Water Supply, Sanitation and Hygiene; Food Security and Nutrition; Shelter, Settlement and Non-food Items; Health Action; Disaster Risk Reduction/Management and Resilience; Sphere for Emergency and Development; Sphere and Coordination; Sphere and Advocacy; Sphere and Cash Transfer Responses; Sphere and Stakeholders involved in humanitarian response; Sphere and accountability to the affected population.
