Promoting Child Rights to Health and Education Project

PROJECT SUMMARY

Promoting Child Rights to Health and Education (PCRHE) is a new project being implemented by LWD funded by Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA), channelled through Church of Sweden. LWD initiated the project aiming to support the government’s efforts in improving health and education sectors in Cambodia.

PCRHE project was designed to address health and education challenges which disadvantaged children and adolescents in rural communities under LWD’s target areas are facing. It also specifically focuses on empowering parents, teachers, school support committees, village development committees and local authorities to actively participate in the support for the promotion of child rights to health and education.

The PCRHE project supports disadvantaged children, and adolescents in rural communities in getting access to basic health care and education services of good quality. Community pre-schools, home care education, friendly school support, scholarship for children, non formal education and child rights education are established and functioned. The project also increases the capacities of parents of vulnerable children to produce and/or supply enough nutritious food to their children and send them to schools.

The project costs USD 1,470,000.

Timeframe: Nov 2011 – Dec 2013
