COOPERATION FOR WOMEN’S ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

Cooperation for Women’s Economic Development (CWED) is a community development project funded by Finn Church Aid (FCA) and implemented by LIFE WITH DIGNITY (LWD).

 3. Goal, Objectives, Approach
Goal
Enhanced social and economic development status of women in agriculture cooperatives through women’s empowerment and entrepreneurship development.
Objectives

Enabled business environment for supporting development of  WAC groups.
Improved business capacity of women in running micro and small business.
Developed project staff capacity in providing business coach & mentoring to WACs.
Approach
LWD applies its current rights-based approach to achieve the goal of the project.
 4. Current Achievements
Major achievements of the project include the following:

  • Selecting 12 WACs
  • Providing coaching and mentoring to the AC committees in management, marketing, and networking
  • Conducting a baseline survey with the Enterprise Development Institute (EDI)
  • Holding an orientation for relevant stakeholders on the project objective
  • Training on entrepreneurship and book keeping
  • Organizing quarterly meetings for business stakeholders’
 5. Expected Outputs
  • Policies and procedures are supportive to small holder farmers and WACs
  • Business development capacity is enhanced for WACs
  • Agriculture value chain by WACs
  • Training on business development and management are conducted for LWD
  • Business coaching and mentoring are regularly conducted for WACs by LWD
6. Target Groups
The target groups includes families facing financial difficulties, and women with the ability for leadership as WACs, in one of our four target areas.
 7. Target Areas
 Work has been done in four provinces thus far: Bavel district of Battamang; Phnom Kravahn of Pursat province; Tuek Phos of Kampong Chhnang province; Aoral, Thpong and Phnom Sruoch districts of Kampong Spue province.
