Representative from Ministry of Rural Development pays monitoring visit to LWD’s program areas

Pursat province (Feb 19, 2015) – H.E Hab Omaly, Under Secretary of State for the Ministry of Rural Development (MRD), paid a two-day visit to LWD’s program areas in Kampong Chhnang and Pursat provinces from 18-19 February 2015 to monitor the implementation of LWD’s programs and its achievements, as well as to learn about challenges LWD faced in its work over the years.

During the visit, H.E Omaly met with villagers in Kiri Akphivaoth, a new village established under the Social Land Concession Project funded by Japan Social Development Fund/World Bank and implemented by LWD in Sameakki Meanchey district of Kampong Chhnang province. In the meeting, he was well-informed about LWD’s support to the village as well as some of LWD’s major achievements such as irrigation and water supply system, latrines, village roads, village bank, cow bank, wells and so on.

In the afternoon on the first day, he visited Srae Chan village in Teuk Phos district of the same province where he met with members of the committee of Srae Chan Village Bank, and in the morning on the second day, he visited Phteah Rung village in Phnom Kravanh district of Pursat province, where he met with members of the Advisory Board of Phteah Rung Rungroeung Agriculture Cooperative.

H.E Omaly requested the villagers to cooperate with LWD and maintain all the achievements in order to improve their livelihoods. He highly appreciated LWD for its good cooperation with MRD and local authorities at all levels over the past years to develop the rural areas, aiming to reduce poverty of the poor.
